Chargeable Weight & Volume (The 1:5 Rule)

In logistics, it is often not just the actual weight that matters, but how much space the goods take up in a truck or container (volume).

How does OYASO calculate the weight?

The system automatically checks two values:

  • The actual weight (in kg).

  • The volumetric weight (based on the dimensions).

The Calculation Logic (1:5) By default, OYASO uses a ratio of 1:5 (bulkiness) to determine the volumetric weight.

The Rule: The system always automatically displays the higher of the two values in the "Chargeable Weight" field.

Why? This ensures that carriers can calculate fair prices, even when shipping light but very bulky goods (e.g., insulation wool).
