Renegotiating Prices
Start a second round without setting up a new request.
If the quotes exceed your budget, or the spread between them looks too wide, you can start a second round. The request stays in place, and so do the existing quotes.
This feature is not part of every contract. The Renegotiate button sits in the top right of the comparison. If it is greyed out, the feature is not enabled for your company.
Before you start
At least one quote has arrived.
Starting a second round
- Open the comparison for the request.
- Click Renegotiate in the top right.
- Select the recipients. All carriers who quoted are preselected. Use the X next to a name to take a partner out of the round.
- Set a new deadline with date and time.
- Write your message.
- Click Send.
The carriers you contacted can revise their quote. As soon as someone enters a new price you receive an email, and the price appears in the comparison. The action is recorded in the request History.
What to write in the message
A specific target price produces more specific answers than a general request. Two examples:
- "We have a budget of €500 for this shipment. Please check whether that is workable."
- "The pre-carriage is well above what we usually see. Please review that item."
Name the point at issue. A carrier can recalculate a specific item; a total figure gives them nothing to work with.
When renegotiating is worth it
Useful when prices sit close together and you have a preferred partner, or when a single item stands out.
Less useful with very short deadlines — the carrier needs time to recalculate. And if the shipment itself has changed, a new request is the cleaner route. → Duplicating a request
If the button is greyed out
The feature is not enabled for your company. Your account manager can tell you what it takes. → Contacting support
Until then, the route runs through a new request: close it, duplicate it, and send it again with an adjusted deadline. → Duplicating a request
