Linking Your Local Email Program (Outlook / Gmail)
Since OYASO accesses your local email program by default for sending emails (e.g., when clicking "Place Order"), it needs to be correctly set as the default application on your computer.
If clicking an email address or a send button in OYASO does not open the desired program, you can easily fix this with a few clicks in your operating system settings.
Outlook as Default (Windows Settings)
This is the most common setting for company computers.
-
Press the Windows key and type "Default apps" (or navigate to: Start > Settings > Apps > Default apps).
-
In the search bar at the top ("Enter a file type or link type..."), type in
MAILTO. -
Click on the application icon currently displayed below it (often "Mail" or "Google Chrome").
-
Select Outlook from the list and confirm your selection.
Gmail as Default (in Google Chrome)
If your company does not use Outlook but operates Gmail directly in the browser:
-
Open Gmail (mail.google.com) in your Chrome browser.
-
Click the small diamond icon (Service Handler icon) in the address bar on the top right (next to the bookmark star).
-
Select "Allow" when Chrome asks: "Allow mail.google.com to open all email links?"
-
Click Done.
Troubleshooting: Special Characters Displayed Incorrectly
Are special characters or umlauts (ä, ö, ü) displayed cryptically in the subject line when Outlook opens from OYASO? This is due to missing character encoding in your Outlook settings.
-
Open Outlook and navigate to File > Options.
-
Select the Advanced tab on the left side.
-
Scroll all the way down to the International options section.
-
Check the box for: "Allow UTF-8 support for the mailto: protocol".
-
Confirm with OK and restart Outlook once.
